Relive your thrilling river run with professional photos that capture 10-15 images through the most exciting rapid. Photos can be purchased à la carte or as one package. This is a third-party service provided by Arkansas Valley Digital Imaging (AVDI).

Pro Tips

  • Avoid putting sunscreen on your forehead—your helmet provides adequate protection, and sunscreen here can run into your eyes when wet. Instead, apply sunscreen generously below the helmet line, and wear sunglasses for eye protection.
  • Conditions on the river can change rapidly; dressing in quick-drying layers allows you to stay comfortable throughout your adventure.
  • Bring an extra set of clothes and a towel for post-trip comfort and warmth.

Rafting Season:
The prime rafting period on the Arkansas River typically runs from mid-May through early September. High water levels from mid-May to mid-June offer thrilling early-season rapids. Late June through July provides ideal conditions with exciting but manageable rapids. Water levels in August and early September gradually decline, offering calmer and scenic floats.

Rafting is naturally wet and enjoyable even on rainy days! We operate all our trips regardless of weather conditions, offering unique river experiences especially when it’s rainy. Dress accordingly and prepare for a memorable day on the water, rain or shine.

Adjustments to Trip Itineraries:
Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities. Occasionally, river conditions may require itinerary adjustments without prior notice. These modifications ensure your safety and a fantastic rafting experience.

Every Bighorn Sheep Canyon trip is led by highly experienced, Swiftwater Rescue-certified guides who are also trained in first aid and CPR. Comprehensive safety briefings, high-quality equipment, and Coast Guard-approved Type V personal flotation devices (PFDs) ensure your safety and peace of mind throughout your rafting adventure.


Swimming & Comfort Levels:
Bighorn Sheep Canyon is perfect for families, beginners, and children ages 6 and up, offering approachable rapids. Basic swimming skills and comfort in the water are recommended, but advanced swimming ability isn’t necessary.


Liability Waivers:
All participants age 18 and older are required to complete a liability waiver prior to departure. Guests under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian, ensuring everyone understands the nature of rafting and any associated risks.

Cancellations made at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure receive a full refund. If cancellations occur within 48 hours, you’ll receive a rain check minus a $10 per-person fee.
