Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame & Museum of the American Cowboy

Yee-haw! Grab granddaddy and the kiddos for some family-friendly fun at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame & Museum of the American Cowboy in Colorado Springs.

You don’t have to be a cowboy aficionado to enjoy this tribute to America’s first extreme sport. The museum features temporary western art displays and permanent exhibits with video kiosks, photos, gear, personal memorabilia and trophies honoring rodeo greats and the original ranch hand.

Since opening in 1979 221 people, 26 animals and 17 rodeo committees have been inducted to the Hall. Begin your tour with a video presentation (offered every half hour) describing the origins of rodeo, which started with cattle drives and ranch work. A second video offers interpretation on the contemporary rodeo and the road to the championship. The Heritage Hall exhibits provide a visual timeline of artifacts that show the evolution of gear, clothing and equipment used in the rodeo and The Hall of Champions offers additional video interpretation and memorabilia of the 220 plus inductees.
Outside there is a replica arena, live rodeo animals and sculpture garden. One thing is for sure – you’re in for a good old time for the whole family at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame & Museum of the American Cowboy.
