You may want to plan your trip around peak run-off or it may be pre-determined by your summer schedule. Either way it’s good to understand the general flow of a Colorado whitewater rafting season. The main rafting season on Colorado’s Arkansas River is May 1 – Labor Day. Peak run-off will depend on the previous winter’s snowpack, but in general high water is in late-May to mid-June, medium flows and warmer weather are common in late-June through mid-August, and lower flows with less crowds can be expected mid-August through early-September. Be aware of age restrictions as they relate to water levels and be sure to book a trip that is appropriate for everyone in your group.
