Crested Butte, Colorado is one of Colorado’s hidden gems

If you have ever wanted to see a real-life ski bum, then Crested Butte is a good place to look. Surrounded by some of the best skiing and snowboarding terrain in all the land, Crested Butte has been able to hold on to its rustic mountain charm, while providing direct access to a world-class ski resort, epic backcountry powder stashes and endless cross country skiing. During the summer months, Crested Butte is known for incredible fishing, mountain biking, hiking, golfing and kayaking. While enjoying any of these summer activities you will experience the lushest high country that Colorado has to offer as you find yourself surrounded by snowcapped mountains, dense forests, and green meadows packed with colorful wildflowers. Due to the steep nature of the creeks that run off of the mountains surrounding Crested Butte, rafting is limited, but a short drive over Monarch Pass on US 50, or cottonwood pass, will take you to world-class white water rafting on the Arkansas River. This is where many of Crested Butte’s local ski bums spend their summers working as white water raft guides.
