Unseasonably warm temperatures in the Colorado high country this April has provided awesome weather for whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River. The water level is low, but the adventure is still high as you get to navigate technical class III rapids. Plus, early spring is a great time to find solitude on one of the most popular rafting rivers in the world.
In 2012 River Runners will celebrate 40 years of whitewater rafting the Arkansas River in Colorado.
2012 Spring Runoff on the Arkansas River
We anticipate a lower than average spring runoff with an early peak around the end of May. This should provide fun and splashy rafting for families on Browns Canyon and Bighorn Sheep Canyon or an exciting challenge for thrill seekers down Pine Creek, The Numbers or The Royal Gorge. Advanced rafting trips were closed most of last season due to high water so this season is your opportunity to take your whitewater experience to the next level.
*We should have great rafting all season long thanks to a flow program from Twin Lakes Reservoir.
April Sun and Whitewater Fun
