Looking at the weekend forecast daytime high temperatures in Buena Vista, Colorado are expected to reach 88 degrees (f) and the high temperatures in Canon City, Colorado are expected to reach 92 degrees (f), setting the table for awesome rafting conditions – warm weather and high water. Snowpack levels for the Arkansas River Basin in Colorado are still at 150 percent of average for this time of year, so we expect river flows to jump up above 3200 cfs by the end of the weekend, which would again close the Numbers and Royal Gorge sections of the Arkansas River (call for current conditions and closures).

We have been blessed with plenty of water in the Arkansas River this rafting season, which has closed the Numbers and Royal Gorge sections for the better part of June 2011. Don’t worry though – there is still plenty of excitement on the Narrows, Browns Canyon and Bighorn Sheep Canyon white water rafting trips. We do expect water levels to remain high through the 4th of July and above average into August.
